Antique Sterling Silver Earrings Featuring Tiny Birds On A Camphor Glass Background – Mark X27 + 925

$695.00

Description

These earrings have a similarity to the sterling on camphor glass. It is a luminescent off white back drop, and looks gives the appearance the birds flying in the clouds. The backs of the earrings have art nouveau scrolling, and the hooks have a clasp at the bottom. The backs are marked X27 and 925. I have not seen any similar earrings anywhere on the Internet. Each one measures 1″ across. They are likely from the Victorian era. They are in excellent condition.

Froma AI identifier:

“The discs show a crackled, spangled, iridescent appearance rather than the layered, fibrous sheen of true nacre. That “mosaic” look — small reflective flakes in a relatively uniform thickness — is characteristic of antique camphor glass used in Victorian/antique jewelry. The listing note you included (camphor glass) and the piece’s age/sterling setting (925) also fit how camphor glass was commonly mounted historically.”
