This pair of intricately detailed shell art images is beyond anything I can find to compare it to. 1stdibs has some shell art images, and shell encircled mirrors, but nothing like this one. I will take some more photos tomorrow as I did not have them on a completely flat surface. I took some side angle pictures to show that even the stamen inside the flowers are standing up in a three dimensional way. There is fine detail in every single element. They are professionally framed (thankfully) in a gilded wood frame, which has kept them from getting damaged. The backs of the frames are bolted in place. Each one measures 11″ x 19″. Everything from the vibrant, luminescent colours of the shells, to the branch detail, birds and flowers – is stunning. There is no signature or maker’s marks. One of the frames has a small paper number attached on the back. It looks to be mid-century 1950’s – 1970’s perhaps.
