Description
Small carved ivory bottle, likely an antique Chinese snuff bottle. It is intricately and three dimensionally carved depicting foliage, ladies sitting on benches, gazebos, and pergolas – as in an outdoor garden. The carving is so intricate and well done, it shows the expressions on the faces, of the women in the garden. The faces are smaller in size than an apple seed. The top and bottom are trimmed with scalloped, and repeat patterns. The bottom has Asian markings in the metal. The lid, on the inside looks like the centre is broken off. The bottle measures 2 3/4″ x 2 1/4″. It is a beautiful and most intriguing little bottle.
