Taxco TC-212 Clunky Wave Patterned Malachite & Sterling Silver Bracelet – TC-212

$1,800.00

Description

This amazing three dimensional Taxco bracelet has large crescent shaped malachite stones in wave like patterns. The markings TC-212 indicate the silversmith’s surname starts with C and that the bracelet was made after 1979. The bracelet could be attributed to Antonio Castillo however I have seen two very similar bracelets, one with large curved onyx stones in a wave pattern and another with obsidian stones, on bracelets made by Antonio Pineda. Although the surname of the maker starts with C, the numbering system and encyclopedia of markings indicates that the surname of the artist is often unknown. The following is the closest example I can find of the style.  https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/bracelets/link-bracelets/antonio-pineda-vintage-obsidian-spine-bracelet/id-j_149672/

There are a total of fourteen beautifully patterned stones arranged in V shaped double rows. Each stone measures 1 1/2″ long x just under 1/2″ both width and depth. The V shapes are hinged together with bar hinges.  When closed the bracelet’s inside diameter is 2 1/2″. The height of the bracelet is 1 1/2″. It has a secure and easy push button closure and release, as well as a safety chain. It is a weighty bracelet with a complex design. It was most certainly made by a master craftsman, and is in excellent condition.
